What does Tri State Oil do with the used oil?

The used oil that is collected from our customers is filtered and processed into Recycled Fuel Oil (RFO) and sold as a less expensive alternative to traditional burner fuels such as propane, diesel, and natural gas.

Is there a minimum number of gallons that Tri State Oil will pick up?

As long as the used oil is stored in a drum, barrel, tote, or tank, there really isn't a minimum amount. We usually are not able to pick up used oil from residential areas and are not able to pump out buckets, pails, or any other small container. If you have less than 20 gallons of used oil that is not being stored in one of the accepted containers, we suggest you ask your local recycling center for disposal recommendations.

If I don't have enough oil for you to pick up, do you have a collection site where I can drop it off?

No, we do not provide any drop off services at any of our locations; we are not open to the public.

What types of waste will you not accept?

Anything that is considered a hazardous material by the Environmental Protection Agency, such as solvents. We also do not take parts washer, cooking oil, or paint.

Will you take used oil that is mixed with anything else, such as water or antifreeze?

If at all possible, the used oil needs to be kept separate from any contaminants such as water, antifreeze, and gas. If you do have used oil that is contaminated, we may be able to help you dispose of it. Please contact us with your specific situation and we will see what we can do to help.

What states do you pick up used oil from?

Tri State Oil started out picking up and delivering used oil to Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska. In the last 35 years or so, we have expanded to Utah and Montana. If you are in a surrounding area of this region, be sure to reach out because we plan to keep expanding into the Midwest and Western regions of the United States.

What states do you deliver burner fuel to?

We deliver burner fuel to most of the Midwest and Western states. Here is a list of states that we are currently delivering to or have delivered to in the past: Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Montana, Utah, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, North and South Dakota, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Texas.
